Democracy for All Education Manuals

The Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 places a duty on employers to promote equal opportunity in the workplace by eliminating unfair discrimination in any employment policy or practice

The Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Mine Health and Safety Act covers all employees and relates to the protection of their health and safety

The Democracy for All programme is aimed at everyone and as such, its materials are easy to understand and learn from. The objectives of the Student's and Instructor's manual are:

  • To improve understanding of the fundamental principles and values underlying democracy in society.
  • To promote awareness of current issues and controversies relating to democracy.
  • To show students that their participation can make a difference in how democracy works in their country.
  • To foster justice, tolerance and fairness.
  • To develop a willingness and an ability to resolve disputes and differences without resorting to violence.
  • To improve basic skills, including critical thinking and reasoning, communication, observation and problem-solving.

The book uses a variety of student-centered activities including case studies, role-plays, simulations, small-group discussions, opinion polls and debates. The Instructor's Manual sets out how the lessons in the main text can be conducted and gives solutions to the problems.  little dot at end of page text
