Written in a similar style to the ABC of Women's Rights in SA, this booklet was written and produced in conjunction with NICRO KwaZulu-Natal and the South African Police Services' Legal Division. This booklet supports the SAPS Human Rights and Policing training programme and highlights the impact the Bill of Rights in the new South African Constitution has had on police practice.
The book examines the various human rights guaranteed to all citizens and looks at them in relation to police procedures. The book is divided into over 100 subject entries in alphabetical order. Topics covered include: Accountability; Border control; Code of conduct; Community policing; Confession; Criminal Procedure Act; Duties of SAPS; ICD; Labour rights; Legal representation; Search; Warrants; Witness protection and Xenophobia. |
